Irene Worth: It's About Hunger

It's about hunger. She is about hunger. The horrible need grows too large, and the horrible need is what is actually moving the body and the soul around, not the legs or the thoughts. Hunger. See me; love me; need me. Compliments that smooth the skin and sooth the hungry ego. And her hunger was worse than that for cocaine or alcohol, and the lift is brief, and the crash is mortal.
Worth is discussing the Princess, the lead character in Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth.
