Natalie Wood: The Soul That Forgave

Natalie Wood, captured by Steve Schapiro, sometime in the 1960s.

When a loved and trusted person--a person to whom you have confessed; a person who has witnessed your flaws and loved you anyway--leaves, disappears, vanishes, the sin remains, and all of the comfort of forgiveness follows the soul that forgave.

Where does it go? Other than in the memory? The deep memory.

But I have these people--I have Natalie--deep within me. Safe, silent, comfortable with my sins.
